Hey Everyone,
I
hope you are all having a good winter season. I am immersed, head
over heels in music and life right now and happy to be so engaged.
I appreciate all the support for Indigo Girls' latest release
Beauty Queen Sister and for the kind words of concern we have
received since we regretfully had to cancel our last four IG shows
Not to worry, family and personal time were calling out loudly
and we had to heed it. We will be introducing a new video for
Share the Moon in January, so be on the lookout for that.
In
the meantime I am out doing a bunch of solo shows, my usual "working
in the gaps" as I like to say. I am planning on acoustic shows
in Jan and Feb, and then hitting the road my rock band in March
and April. After that you will see Indigo Girls reemerge with
a killer summer schedule.
I
am totally excited to be releasing a brand solo record, Lung of
Love on Feb 28th. For my new CD I am back with producer Greg Griffith
and my usual band of suspects with a few exciting guests. The
band is Melissa York on drums, Kaia Wilson on guitar, Greg Griffith
on bass and guitar, and for the first time on record, Julie Wolf
on keys! The music ranges from Appalachian to rock, to country
to punk. Lots of guest vocalist-Brandi Carlile, Jim James, Lindsay
Fuller, Heather McEntire, and A Fragile Tomorrow. I'll be posting
lots of news, videos, and music in the coming months, so be on
the look out.

Lung of Love - to be released 2/28/12
In
January, I am teaming up with one of my favorite songwriters,
Lindsay
Fuller to do a handful of acoustic nights in the South. We'll
be trading off songs and singing with each other, accompanied
by the masterful Jeff Fielder on Dobro and guitar. I will be drawing
from my solo catalogue as well as some IG obscurities. Lindsay
has a new record coming out in early Spring on ATO. These are
special shows, not to be missed.
"Lindsay Fuller's haunting Southern Gothic songwriting is
unlike any other in her genre. Born in Alabama, the Seattle-based
artist is the antithesis of the typical ethereal songstress. Her
storytelling has been compared to Flannery O'Connor's, while her
voice to Johnny Cash, Nick Cave, Lucinda Williams and Gillian
Welch - delicate and dark, "a burnished, soulful trill that sounds
like the frame of a beautiful old church that's about to collapse
on itself" (The Examiner).

Lindsay Fuller
We
will be starting out with a total cross-pollinating experience
when we head down to South Walton County, Fl for the 30A Songwriters
Festival. If you haven't experienced this yet, you really should
try it. For a few days, the Florida Panhandle is ringing with
song and an impressive array of musical talent from established
songwriters to up and coming artist. Then, Lindsay, Jeff, and
I will hop in the van and do a few stops in the South with our
little musical trade off. I hope you can come out and enjoy some
good times with us!
After
that I'll be stopping in Dahlonega, GA to play two sold out shows
with the new Appalachian sensation-Roxie
Watson.
